Countryside Science delivers online digital training for the natural resource management industries such as conservation, forestry, ecology, and associated activities. Due to the nature of these industries, delivering effective training can be a cumbersome and expensive experience. Training courses are not always available. Trainers are often in remote locations. Staff training away days incur travel and accommodation costs as well as the reduction in productivity.
Furthermore, there are many subject areas where no dedicated training exists. A combination of self-learning, knowledge seeking, and luck are required to find the information that is directly relevant. Modernizing this process to deliver this information easily and efficiently is why Countryside Science was established.
Course development takes place in consultation with industry and government bodies. Initially, a literature review is undertaken that looks at the published knowledge in government publications, scientific papers, industry guidelines, and other authoritative sources. This information is distilled into a script and accompanying videos are developed. Our partners then review the course material and edits are made to ensure succinct and accurate information is given.
Courses consist of videos broken down into sections that help viewers build knowledge and expertise in the chosen subject area. Furthermore, they are intended to be used as a reference guide as well as a learning resource. Videos are online and can be watched on a computer, smartphone, tablet or similar device. Full high definition 1080p means that images are clear and can aid in real time decision making when on site.
These courses are intended for use as both Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and for non-business users such as volunteers and nature enthusiasts.
